Preston's brother Henry was Surety at his marriage to Nancy Martin wedding in Patrick Co. Va. in 1827.
Preston's obituary notice was published in the Baptist Banner on Nov 15, 1899. "The oldest man in Kanawha County has passed away. Preston Whitlock died at Malden, October 15, 1899, aged ninety-eight years. His funeral was preached to a large concourse of friends October 16, 1899 by the writer. Father Whitlock was born in Halifax county, Virginia. in the year 1801; was reared up and married Miss Nancy Martin of the same county in the year 1823. He moved to Kanawha county in 1853 and had lived there ever since. He was the father of eleven children, seven daughters and four sons. He has seventy-five grand-children and ninety-nine great-grand children. He has been a Baptist for many years.
H.S. Hall"
Preston was in the 1850 Kanawha census records.
David Snead has a picture of the "Estep" house in which Preston died. It was located in Malden by the mouth of Georges Creek. It no longer remains. He also has an original picture of Preston, Mary Frances and 3 generations of Sneads for a total of 5 generations.
Marriage record shows nancy Martins mother as Mary Chivers.
It also indicates Preston's name as Thesterton? I believe it was Preston based on the marriage records of William Robert Whitlock and John Preston Whitlock where they both list their mothers name as Nancy. Lds records show her name as Mary Martha.
